Meet Brothers talk about the recreation of 'Dholi Taro' in 'Ek Pahlei Leela'

MUMBAI: After composing a hit like 'Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan' for the movie 'Roy' right at the start of 2015, Meet Brothers and Anjjan have 80 songs ready to release in this year. The trio recently recreated the track 'Dholi Taro' originally from ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, for the upcoming film ‘Ek Paheli Leela’. The track is crooned by ‘Zara Zara Touch Me’ singer Monali Thakur.

“It was Bhushanji who asked us to recreate the track ‘Dholi Taro’ and told us that he has acquired rights for the song. Since the script led the protagonist to Rajasthan, we added a lot of Rajasthani folk elements to the song,” said Harmeet. It took over eight months to make the song, since they were juggling with a lot of other projects. “There are times when you compose a song, and you sleep over it, and once every two months, you keep working on it. That is what happened with ‘Dholi Taro’”, he added. After trying a couple of different singers for the song, the trio finally zeroed down on Monali Thakur.

When asked how they select a singer for a track, Manmeet said, “We believe that composing is more like casting. When we compose a song, you already know the feel of it and what kind of a singer would suit the song.” According to him auto tuners have become a vital part of the industry today as apart from erasing the dents in the voice, it also helps in packaging the song. “If you see the content on something like a cell phone, thus you need to package music in such a way that a four to six minutes song can be heard on the software of the cell phone. I do agree that it erases dents, but auto tuners have become a necessity today,” he explained.

‘Ek Paheli Leela’ is all set to release on 10 April 2015
