MUMBAI: Neeraj Shridhar, the famous face of yesteryear band- Bombay Vikings, has sung the song 'Saturday Night' for the film 'Bangistan', which features Jacqueline Fernandez, Riteish Deshmukh and Pulkit Samrat. The album of Bangistan is composed by Ram Sampath and lyrics for the tracks are penned by Puneet Krishnan.
Talking about working with Ram Sampat, he said, “We have always spoken over the phone but never met. It is the first time that I am working with Ram. When he asked me to come over and record a track for him, I was excited to work with him. The track is a peppy number, and we managed to record it pretty fast. Aditi Singh Sharma and Benny Dayal recorded the track later." Working with Sampath was a great experience, Shridhar said, as the composer is well versed with various issues.
'Saturday Night' has a touch of EDM, which is something he likes. "I feel that EDM was always there in our music. You had people like Pritamda, Vishal Shekhar who experimented with the music long ago even when EDM was not that popular in India,” Shridhar added.
When asked if he was working on any single, the ‘Gangster Baby’ singer revealed that he has composed many songs but cannot stand label companies dictating their terms to him. "I have got so much of success not just in indie space, but also Bollywood. I have been a part of Bombay Vikings and have sung some of the biggest hits in Bollywood. There have been composers and label companies who wish to work with me, but they dictate terms, and that is something I cannot take. I would rather wait for the right person who would want to release my music on my terms," he further said.
Shridhar revealed that he has also recorded a song with Himesh Reshammiya for an upcoming film.
