MUMBAI: With plans of moving to the US to focus on a singing career still in progress, singer/songwriter Nikhil D'Souza confirmed that he has recorded songs for three upcoming Bollywood films- 'Hero', 'Phir Se...' and 'Katti Batti'. He revealed that he recorded these tracks last year. D'Souza has worked with different composers for each of the films- 'Phir Se...' with Jeet Gannguli, 'Katti Batti' Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and 'Hero' with Sachin-Jigar.
D'Souza gained popularity when he sang 'Shaam' for Amit Trivedi in the 2010 film 'Aisha'. Since then, he has gone on to sing in almost 30 Bollywood films. 'Phir Se...' marks the first time D'Souza has worked with Gannguli, who is well known for providing music for the Bollywood blockbuster – 'Aashiqui 2'.
Along with 'Phir Se...', the singer, who often collaborates with Warren Mendonsa's Blackstratblues, also recorded a song with famed music composer duo Sachin-Jigar for the upcoming film 'Hero'. The film is a remake of Subhash Ghai's 1983 film of the same name, starring Jackie Shroff. Meanwhile, the remake of 'Hero' will be directed by Nikhil Advani, whose other upcoming film- 'Katti Batti' also has D'Souza providing vocals. The music for 'Katti Batti' has been composed by popular Bollywood music composer trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.
D'Souza was last seen recording a new Hindi song with Ajay Singha Miko for the upcoming Bollywood film 'Hai Apna Dil Toh Awara', with lyrics by Pinky Poonwala. Earlier this month, he also made his Marathi singing debut in the film 'Timepass 2', with the track 'Tu Mila', a duet with Shalmali Kholgade.
D'Souza also added that he plans to focus on getting his music better known in the US, and wants to create a brand name for himself in the West before coming back to perform in India.
