MUMBAI: Mumbai gets one more electronic music show in the form of 'By The Pier', which will see major house electronic acts, both local and international. The event, organised by Regenerate, will celebrate the music property's one year anniversary by bringing American born, Berlin based artiste Kevin Knapp to headline the event. Knapp also belongs to international dance music labels - the Hot Creations and OFF Recordings camp.
After hosting a string of gigs across the country in 2013 with well known international artistes like Daniel Steinberg and Nils Hoffman, the organisers are trying to educate the audience in deep/tech house space, while nurturing local talent as well, with a roster of four local electronic artistes.
They will celebrate their anniversary at Radio Club on 8 November, making it an open-air event with more than just music. The line-up amongst local acts, includes Regenerate artistes – Orbs&Zen, Blot, Oozeundat, Blurry Slur (Qwiver's newly introduced alter ego primarily focusing on the deep/tech/electronica space) and Bangalore residents Twokid Wickid who will make their Mumbai debut. Soupherb Records' Folic State will also be playing at the after party, and is known for his bassy tunes with a psychedelic influence.
Talking about getting Kevin Knapp to the city, Regenerate spokesperson said, "We had vaguely heard about Kevin Knapp as he is a part of the established label Hot Creations but, we caught him at Berlin at the OFF recordings showcase at Suicide Circus and were completely blown away. We asked him if he would be interested in coming to play to India, he was excited, we were excited, and now, we are here.”
Kevin Knapp stated excitedly, "I did not know that I would be fortunate enough to visit India in my life but, buckle up here we go. I am beyond excited to get the chance to express and share the ways in which tunes help me breathe and in many ways are my every breath. So, down to kick it with new worldwide 'homies', I have yet to meet and see how India gets down."
