Progressive pop rock band Skylight Vision to release singles while working on debut album

MUMBAI: After releasing a four-track debut EP last September, Pune-based progressive pop rock band Skylight Vision plans to release singles in the future.  The band's lead vocalist Gaurav Tophakhane added that the band will focus on playing live.

When probed whether the band is working on a full-length album, Tophakhane said, "We are working on new material in TweakLab Studios, but performing live gigs is our main focus right now. We aim to perform at the upcoming NH7 Weekender music festival." Tophakhane also stated that after the band performed in Chennai, they decided that they will play more in Southern India.

Skylight Vision was formed in late 2013, and consists of six members- Tophakhane(vocalist), Aniket Ganoo (guitarist), Bhushan Chitnis (guitarist), Saurabh Kalokhe (bassist), Shaunak Kulkarni  (keyboardist) and Pranav Wankhedkar (drummer). Ganoo had composed couple of songs solely, after which he realised his potential and decided to form a band. Skylight Vision was formed with the help of Tophakhane and Chitnis.

The band released its first single 'Ember' in January 2014. Since then, Skylight Vision has gone on to win the MTV Ray-Ban Never Hide Sounds 2014 Series, through which the band collaborated with Monica Dogra and Randolph Correia's Shaair and Func.

The band members of Skylight Vision find it difficult to categorise its music to one particular genre, because all the members have diverse influences. While, Tophakhane enjoys listening to Raghu Dixit, Wankhedkar is influenced by American progressive metal band Dream Theater. Also, the band stated that since it is difficult for people to understand and accept the concept of 'genre-free' music, the band members of Skylight Vision have tagged the band as a progressive pop rock band.
