The Raushan Verma Scheme working on new EP

MUMBAI: After premiering the track 'Your Song' on Pepsi MTV Indies last year, Pune-based rock band 'The Raushan Verma Scheme' is working on more original compositions that they plan to release as a four track extended play (EP). The band released its debut album 'Centre of Origin' last March.

"The EP is a huge leap from 'Centre of Origin'," said lead vocalist Raushan Verma to Radioandmusic.com about the EP and its inspirations. "It has a richer, more new age sound to it. Since ('Centre of Origin), we have become more dynamic on stage and our song writing has also evolved. When we perform on stage, we want our audiences to feel like it is a party. And we plan to reflect that, through the EP."

Called 'It's All Relevant', the EP will have four songs including previously released 'Your Song' along with newer additions called 'Strawberry Pudding', 'Maybe' and 'Anarchy'. Verma said that 'Strawberry Pudding' has a rich overdrive coupled with "pumpy" beats, while 'Anarchy' is a 'rubato ballad' with just piano and vocals. A 'rubato ballad' often has varied textures and tempi because of the rhythmic irregularity and measures of very irregular lengths.

Verma further said that the track 'Maybe' will "definitely" be the next single by The Raushan Verma Scheme; a follow-up to last year's 'Year Song'. He said that 'Maybe' is a soft romantic song, a heavy ballad with a catchy melody. He also said that the band is an independent band and is not signed under any label. The band now has a new bassist and its producer is now its guitarist.

'Your Song' was released on OKListen and Pepsi MTV Indies, and Verma is hopeful for a similar occurrence. "We are planning to release the EP on OKListen and are trying to get the video on Pepsi MTV Indies," concluded Verma.
