MUMBAI: Delhi residents enjoy rather hilarious evenings, and it if often because of Radio Mirchi's 'Mirchi Murga' which is hosted by RJ Naved. The jock is not only known for his tongue-in-cheek humour, but also for expressing his opinion fearlessly about the social issues. From his famous reply to Bilawal Ali Bhutto's statement to the latest 'Murga', in which he encouraged a girl to stand against eve teasing, RJ Naved has always managed to stand up for the right cause. He has now been awarded with the 'Best RJ' award at the Golden Mike, at a ceremony that was held on 31st March in Mumbai.
Speaking to Radioandmusic.com's Dhairya Ingle, he jokingly said, "When you receive an award, there are two things that happen; one is the recipient gets happy and the other is even the award gets equally happy as it is in the right hands. But on a serious note, it is always great to be awarded and recognised for the work that you do."
Naved revealed that when he told his parents about the award, they initially refused to believe him because they thought he was pulling a prank, considering the following day was April Fools' Day. However, when he later showed them the trophy, they were very happy. When asked if receiving an award pressurises him to perform better, he replied, "I am always under pressure regardless of receiving an award or not. I put that conscious effort into getting better day by day. Anyone who gets the world's biggest award should always try and do better."
While selecting a topic for the show, he makes sure he picks a trending issue. "Issues like women's safety or some other social issues are something that I have to talk about. But some other pranks are implemented as planned. The best part is that my radio station renders all the support I require," he explained.
The RJ, at times, does get back lash for his opinions; however, he is thankful to his fans for sticking with him.
