MUMBAI: Like most kids, Sachin Sanghvi of the Sachin Jigar music composer duo, wanted to, one day, be part of the Indian cricket team. It was his mother who pushed him to take up music classes, and he would often wait for his music classes to get over, just so he could out and play.

"I was actually a good bowler but then my mother did not want me to get into cricket. She was the one who made me attend music classes. At that time, I had no idea about music at all. But before I realised it, I had learned so much that music became my passion, and then I did not want to get into cricket," revealed composer Sanghvi.

During his initial days, Sanghvi composed music for theatre, and according to him, the experience of theatre has helped him immensely even in Bollywood. "It is always good when you have sixteen people with you in the studio, rather than four. The experience in theatre has helped me a lot and I still use that experience with Bollywood. In theatre everything was live and you did not have the chance to redo something, so you learn to do things in a limited time with limited resources," he added. During his stint with theatre he started taking up composing for jingles. There came a time when Sanghvi was overloaded with projects and wanted to share his work load with another music composer. This was when he was introduced to Jigar, and the two have been together ever since.

Having worked together for a decade, the duo is in a constant mode of reinventing themselves as music composers by infusing various folk elements into their music. Recently, at Coke Studio they added Gujarati folk to their music repertoire. According to Sanghvi the addition of folk elements, helps with things like enhancing creativity and revisiting out roots. "Our country is blessed with a plethora of talent. When you add these elements into the music, you not only learn more, but it also actually who you actually are. With the response from 'Laakdi', I realised one thing; that folk music will always be around. It is just that we, as musicians, are not doing enough. By adding folk elements to music, you do not get type casted, and we want to show people that we can work with different genres. Also, Jigar and I love rediscovering ourselves time and again," he elucidated.

According to Sanghvi, Bollywood is a "mother genre" which can absorb anything palatable. For the duo, each script they come across, inspires them to look at expressions differently. For them, it is not about how much they put in but it is all about where they wish to get. Recently the duo composed music for 'ABCD 2', the sequel to 'ABCD'.

With the success of the previous version of the film, expectations for 'ABCD2' have scaled up, and to ensure there is something for everyone, Sachin Jigar have dished out a variety of genres for the 10-track album. Having worked on the music for almost one and a half year, the soundtrack to 'ABCD2' has carved a very special place in the hearts of the team, including lyricist Mayur Puri.

"Remo sir had the story of these dancers Aryan, Suresh, Vinnie and Vernon from Nalasopara who went on to win the World Hip-Hop dance championship. UTV had already extended the idea of making a sequel for 'ABCD'. With the success of the previous edition, everything just got bigger and better. Whether it was the location, or star cast, or the way the songs were shot, everything became larger," he revealed.

The music composer duo has tried to incorporate various genres of music for the album like swing pop. According to Sachin, the album is more experimental and it took them a little too long to zero down on the music. "A lot has gone into making the music of the film. We did not wish to go wrong with the first chord of the film as the story revolves around the tracks so it was quite essential for us to get the first step correct," he said.

The duo is keeping their fingers crossed and hopes the audience likes their upcoming work. 'ABCD 2' will hit theaters on 19 June, 2015.
