MUMBAI: ‘Do Dhaari Talwar’ singer Shahid Mallya has crooned the song, ‘Nachda’ for the upcoming film ‘Phantom’.
The music of the track is composed by Pritam and the lyrics are penned by ‘Suno Na Sangemarmar’ lyricist Kausar Munir. It took almost six hours to record the track.
“Generally I take an hour to record any track, but then this track took me almost six hours to dub because I could not get the emotions right. Suddenly I would get a romantic feel and then suddenly my voice projected sadness, which is why it took this long. However the best part was that the engineers were extremely patient with me,” revealed Mallya.
The track has a hardcore Sufi feel to it and the lyrics have many Urdu words. The song ‘Nachda’ was recorded six months ago.
According to Mallya, it isn't easy to impress the ‘Dhoom 3’ composer as he is someone who doesn't get satisfied easily. “One of the biggest things that I learnt from Pritam da, was to keep pushing yourself. He's the kind of person who will make changes to the song even a couple of hours before delivering the shoot-mix if he's not satisfied,” he further explained.
Describing the song as one that portrays the emotion of a devotee who is lost in the praising God, Mallya said, “The track has an Arabic feel to it. It is very different from my previous songs as there is a message attached to it since it has a malang feel to it.”
The ‘Iski Uski’ singer also said that he tries to imbibe the mischievousness of Kishore Kumar and the style of Mohammed Rafi in his voice.
Mallya is currently working with Amit Trivedi for an upcoming film and also with Sohail Sen for a couple of songs in 'Fraud Saiyaan'.
