MUMBAI: When it comes to award ceremonies, the first people to be usually notified about nominations are the artistes who make it to the final list of nominees. Unfortunately, for Shreya Ghoshal, it was the other way around. The 'Chinki Chameli' singer, who is currently in Europe, took to Twitter to vent her frustration about not being informed officially about her nominations.

The songstress posted, “Why do bother? Not a single invite, acknowledgement or courtesy. These are our prestigious award ceremonies.. Achha smile all of u! I just vented out, coz I get to know abt me nominated, winning or losing here on Twitter. No official way.. Sad no:(” (sic)

Interestingly, she made her frustration known in the early hours of Wednesday, hours after the GiMA awards were wrapped up on 24th February. Ghoshal had also received two GiMA nominations in the same category (Best Duet) for her songs ‘Manwa Lage’ and ‘Samjhawa’, both with Arijit Singh.

However, this is not the first time that an artiste has expressed frustration regarding the festival. Sonu Nigam who was spotted at the GiMA awards also expressed his astonishment at ‘Jal’ not getting nominated. The award ceremony organisers also came under fire recently when they decided to disqualify the Mekaal Hasan band from its nomination in the ‘Best Rock Album’ category, citing the tracks from the band’s album ‘Andholan’ were not recorded in India. The band members claimed that they received no official notification from the organisers about the disqualification, adding that the songs were recorded both, in India and Pakistan.
