MUMBAI: Suraj Jagan who is best known for songs like 'Kar Ja Re Ya Mar Ja Re Tu' from the film 'ABCD: Any Body Can Dance' and 'Aafaton Ke Parindey' from the film 'Ishaqzaade' has now rendered his vocals for three songs 'Ishq E Phillum', 'Ishq E Phillum' and 'Lifebuoy' in the anxiously anticipated film 'Shamitabh'. The music is composed by Illayraja and lyrics are penned by Swanand Kirkire.
“I had worked with Illayraja sir for a South Indian movie and before meeting him I had heard stories about him being stern. But I would say that he is someone who is well versed with what he wants from a singer. He is someone who is clear and will write each and every note, and all you have to do is just follow his instructions. It is always great to work with a musician like this,” said Jagan. He had also worked on a jingle with 'Shamitabh' director R Balakrishnan, who asked him to try the song.
The song 'Ishq E Phillium' was recorded very quickly as it was just a description of what films are. Two of the songs- 'Thappad' and 'Lifebuoy' were recorded in Chennai at Illayraja's studio. “If you listen to the song 'Thappad' it is about standing up against wrong. I already have that kind of an attitude, so it was not that difficult for me. The third song 'Lifebuoy' is extremely funny, so I had a fun time recording the tracks.”
Jagan is currently working on the album 'Happy' which was supposed to release in October last year but got delayed. He has also recorded for a few other Bollywood projects which are yet to be released.
'Shamitabh' stars Amitabh Bachchan, Dhanush and Akshara Haasan, and is set to release on 6 February 2015.
