MUMBAI: In less than eight months since its online release, the music video of Taylor Swift’s track 'Blank Space’ has hit one billion views and become the fastest video to do so. The Grammy award winning singer took to Twitter to share her excitement about the feat with her 60 million followers, after hearing the news.

The 25-year old pop singer also tweeted that her new track ‘Bad Blood’, is number one on pop radio for its third consecutive week. With ‘Blank Space’, Swift became the first woman in the 56-year history of Hot 100's to beat herself at the top spot. In addition to the US and UK, the track has also topped charts in Canada, South Africa, Scotland, Australia, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, New Zealand and Spain. The track was released last year as the second single off Swift’s massively successful fifth studio album ‘1989’.

Swift is currently in the North American leg of her ‘1989’ world tour, which opened last May and is scheduled to finish in December this year. According to IFPI, by the start of 2015, Swift had sold over 40 million albums, 130 million single downloads and was one of the top five music artists with the highest worldwide digital sales.
