MUMBAI: ‘Piya Aye Na’ singer Tulsi Kumar has bagged the Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Award for her contribution in the field of music. It was almost a month ago that the singer was informed by the Rajiv Gandhi committee about the award. The ceremony was held on 27 August, 2015 in Delhi.

“I am so happy to get an award for my contribution in music and this will help me get better and work harder. I am seven years old in the industry and getting an award for my contribution in my field, is very overwhelming,” said Kumar.

She feels that bagging an award has made her even more responsible and wishes to dedicate the accolades to her father. “It is because of my father that I have started singing and have reached here. I would also like to dedicate this award to my idols from whom I have learnt a lot,” she further added.

Lastly, she thanks her family for pushing her to do better constantly.

Currently, Kumar is busy rehearsing for her upcoming gigs. Feeling a bit more confident on stage now, Kumar says, “Now I am mentally prepared that I will be performing live and I am slowly getting more and more comfortable on stage. I love entertaining and people will see a different side of me altogether.”

Her upcoming projects include a song with composer Jeet Gannguli. Additionally, she is also working on a single, which will be released in a couple of months.
