MUMBAI: YouTube star Shraddha Sharma, recently launched her single ‘Dum Maro Dum’ for which she has collaborated with Mumbai based hip hop/ rap group DopeadelicZ. The track is about avoiding drug use and not succumbing to peer pressure. The track also marks her first musical collaboration.
“My first collaboration was super awesome and I really had a lot of fun in the process of making the single. Through ‘Dum Maro Dum’ I wanted to give out a message to my followers about not coming under the influence of drugs because of peer pressure. I have been singing this song since I was seven or eight years old, and since I was working with Dopeadelicz, ‘Dum Maro Dum’ was the only line I could come up with,” said Sharma.
After a controversy with the Multi Channel Network, Culture Machine, the singer chose to sign with Qyuki Digital Media to handle her YouTube channel, and is really happy with the way they have promoted her single. “Within a day of the release of the single I got two lakh views on YouTube, which is very huge for any artist. I am really very delighted with the way Qyuki has promoted the single,” she further added. Post her tiff with Culture Machine, Sharma was on the lookout for an MCN which could enhance her digital presence.
In addition to her singing capabilities, Sharma is also planning to take up the composing for her upcoming single, however, she did not reveal the timeframe of releasing the track.
She will also be judging a singing competition with Sulaiman Merchant, called ‘Max Life iGenius Young Singing Competition’ for the second time. Sharma has already been a judge for the first edition of the contest. When asked what she will be looking for in the participants, she said, “They should be a complete package; a good singer and performer.”
