Sound technicians are now getting due recognition: Resul Pookutty

Oscar winning sound artiste Resul Pookutty, who won the National Award for his work in the superhit Malayalam film 'Keralavarma Pazhassiraja' yesterday, said that he was overjoyed at receiving the �ultimate' honour. Pookutty who is also a voting member of the Academy of Motion Pictures, won the award for Best Sound Designer for his work in the period epic. "There is no award like the National Award, it's the ultimate feeling. And it is all the more special because I was recognised for my work in my own language Malayalam," Pookutty told PTI.

Google courting record labels for its online music service

MUMBAI: Internet search powerhouse Google is putting forward proposals for a new music service which features an ?  la carte-style digital download store and social networking locker that would take on Apple's market-ruling iTunes, media reports. Google is approaching many record labels for this service that would let people download songs in digital format or store music in the Internet "cloud" for streaming to online devices. Consumers will be charged about $25 (?16) for this.
