MUMBAI: Delhi based crossover Electronic/Rock producer, guitarist, and vocalist Cranknob (moniker of Ahmer Khan) released a five-track digital EP titled 'Black To White'. The EP, in production since mid 2015, transmutes the five stages of grief and depression into music. The sound in the EP is a fresh cross of electronica, bass heavy music and rock. The EP is available on Soundcloud, Bandcamp, OKListen and on the producer’s official website.
The songs ‘Pulsate’, ‘Shedding Skin’, ‘Throw Caution To The Wind’, ‘Relapse & Redemption’ and ‘Metamorphosis’ take the listener through a sonic journey of the depressed mind. The agony, anger and helplessness turn into redemption and transformation as the songs play out.
Regarding the concept of the EP, Ahmer Khan said “Cranknob is a moniker for my expression in music that came to be in 2011, as a sort of an alter ego, while I was living in London. This EP is based on my own journey through depression. The emotion I felt whilst in these stages inspired each song and lyrics; though it was only later that I could logically piece this puzzle together. It’s always in hindsight that one connects these pieces. And what came as a result was an honest sonic expression, dabbling in and crossing between the different genres that have influenced my music all these years. Depression is a serious and gripping condition, and I hope the music and lyrics resonate with people who have experienced this.”
