MUMBAI: The BACARDÍ NH7 Weekender 2016 came to a close with a record 40,000 music lovers visiting the beautiful RBDSA in Bhoirymbong, Shillong over two days of the festival.
The festival wrapped up Day Two with global rock music proponent Steven Wilson, India’s biggest bass producer Nucleya, homegrown blues stalwarts Soulmate who presented a special show on the History of the Blues, Bangla rock superstars Fossils, guitarist and composer Dhruv Ghanekar's experimental folk project Dhruv Voyage, London-based indie band Wild Palms, heavy metal heavyweights Undying Inc. and Manipuri folk-rock favourites Imphal Talkies to name a few. One of the biggest highlights of the festival, Day One saw Farhan Live steal the show with thousands of fans singing along to his famous tunes.
The Shillong leg of the festival featured five stages - BACARDÍ Arena, BACARDÍ House Party, The Dewarists, Breezer Vivid Village and Insider.in Other Stage.
Only Much Louder CEO Vijay Nair says, “We knew that the festival would be bigger and better this year after the reception we got last time around, but in all honesty we didn’t expect this kind of turnout. The Shillong edition is officially the fastest growing edition of Bacardi Nh7 Weekender and we can’t wait to see where it takes us. The bar has been raised on music festivals and we are gonna work harder to make sure we can deliver an even bigger experience next year and make this the festival the entire country talks about.”
The festival provided a wide array of delicious food options ranging from North East region cuisines of Garo, Naga and Khasi along with specials from Bhoirymbong village to food from the rest of the country. The Bazaar showcased a variety of creative products from artists, craftspeople and DIYers from across India.
In addition to these, interactive concepts including the #BACARDIHOUSEPARTY’s Bath Tub, Giant Photo frames and Breezer Game Arena’s life-size bowling experience using zorb balls had fans entertained throughout.
Following its first stop in Shillong, BACARDÍ NH7 Weekender will now travel to Hyderabad on 5-6 November and Pune on 2-4 December.
