MUMBAI: With backing from the likes of Tiësto, Don Diablo, Martin Garrix and Swedish House Maffia, Dutch outfit Magnificence have superb pedigree. They are back with another explosive jam in the form of Closer, ready to destroy closing parties and final summer festivals across the globe.
Tune into the song below:
Bristling with cutting-edge production, Closer takes the best elements of rowdy electro house and bass music and mashes them together with totally indefinable sounds and textures. It’s a dark yet playful track, characterised by warped, cutting bass tones, chunky beats and a spooky synth sounds.
To celebrate this superb track, the duo is also launching a Closer Challenge, where they encourage their fan base to come closer together and create a sense of unity among themselves. Fans are asked to check out the teaser video and respond to it with a continuation of the theme, filming a close-up of themselves with two black or white Xs on their eyes and sharing inspirational messages alongside it. This can be a solo effort like a message on a white paper, or something more elaborate alongside friends. They want fans to submit life lessons, messages and good advice that they like to share with the world. The results will be compiled into one uplifting video to be launched during ADE.
“We believe in the power of unity,” explain Robin and Maurice on the thinking behind the contest. “In present day society, people are preoccupied by their own world. We live most of our social lives through our phones, but our hearts don’t. Now we stand up and say: It’s time to know one another, to see each other, to accept one another. It’s time to regain our interest in our fellow human beings and to celebrate the beauty of who we are. We dare you to come closer to each other, see, feel and life with your own eyes and heart. Come closer,” he adds.
It’s been a fantastic summer for the duo, with a hugely successful headline club tour of Taiwan and China in August, an acclaimed monthly show on the influential SLAM. Radio and a stunning remix for Matisse and Sadko’s Mystery doing big things on STMPD RCRDS.
