MUMBAI: Today, GRiZ has released an empowering music video for his newest single, A New Day feat. Matisyahu. The video offers an emotional look into the gun violence crisis as it follows real people who have been personally affected in different ways. It’s a powerful example that gun violence affects anybody no matter their age, sex or race.
Along with the new music, GRiZ calls on fans to support Brady (formerly the Brady Campaign Against Gun Violence), which encourages the community to #TakeActionNotSides and unite against gun violence. Visit bradyunited.org/act and add your voice to the millions urging senators to support S.42, legislation needed to expand background checks on gun sales and save lives.
The video is a visual follow up to its audio counterpart, A New Day, which was released on 22 February as part of GRiZ’s forthcoming album Ride Waves. The track was written days after last year’s tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland and helped form the song that became A New Day.
In GRiZ’s words, “Matisyahu’s voice speaks volumes to so many people. He has this unique ‘way’ of speaking and I am infinitely humbled that we were able to link up on an idea that I think is very necessary today.”
In Director Robert Nyerges’ words, “Collaborating with real people was such a humbling experience as each of the individuals we worked with all endured unspeakable hardships yet remained resilient, positive and beyond generous in helping us to complete this project. We hope that this film will be one small step forward on the path to progressive change."
