MUMBAI: The final season of the highly successful ninth edition of Art And Artistes' 'Idea Jalsa – Music for the Soul' ended on a high note. Staged against the backdrop of nature's own paradise Jammu, the musical night saw mesmerizing performances by maestros Abhay Rustum Sopori and Master Saleem. This is the first time Idea Jalsa has travelled to this beautiful part of the country. The duo that performed is well-known for their musical prowess and their ability to entertain audiences with their talent.
This was a special occasion for Abhay Rustum Sopori who performed in his hometown. Known for playing the native instrument santoor, the highly talented instrumentalist and composer spoke about his experience of associating with Idea Jalsa. He said, "Idea Jalsa has travelled to Jammu which is a huge accomplishment. This is something that I personally wanted as Idea Jalsa is a platform which depicts the true meaning of Indian Art and Culture through music. This was my first recital at Idea Jalsa and I am very happy that I embarked this journey from my very own state."
He was accompanied by Master Saleem also known as Saleem Shahzad who also set the momentum for a breath taking performance. The gifted artist has been performing to an audience since the tender age of 8 has gone beyond genres of Punjabi folk and Sufi music. Master Saleem treated the audience to a mesmerizing blend of unbelievable melodies.
Commenting on the property, Art And Artistes, Founder and Director, Durga Jasraj said, "Idea Jalsa is a journey which goes beyond the proverbial 'dream come true', it is a 'blessing'. Its entry into the Limca Books of Records for being the largest platform for Indian Music is an acknowledgement of the phenomenal journey it has been. Today, Idea Jalsa is truly a celebration of Music for the Soul." Ending on a good note, Idea Jalsa Chief Operating Officer, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Sudhir Pradhan also confirmed that it was great to have brought Idea Jalsa which is a musical celebration to Jammu.
Durga Jasraj and Neeraj Jaitly's Art And Artistes is a multi-media initiative that is designed to showcase diverse genres and timeless content of Indian Music. Idea Jalsa is part of this initiative with over 20 genres of Indian Music, more than 150 artistes across 12-city concert tour and has been associated with leading telecom brand, Idea Cellular since 2006.
