MUMBAI: Paul Cotton is proud to announce the release of his fifth solo album. "100% Paul Cotton" gives the POCO singer a chance to revisit and reinvent 11 of his songs, including "Heart of the Night," "Boomerang," and "Please Wait for Me." For Cotton, the album gives him a chance to address some unfinished business.
"This album is my way of remembering the way I composed these songs in the beginning," said Paul Cotton. "Some that were electric on the POCO albums are now acoustic. I do "Heart of the Night," acoustic on that album. That's how I wrote it. It's kind of a new light through old windows concept. So I get to redo all those songs in that vein."
Cotton is well known for his days as the lead guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter in the band POCO. He has also enjoyed an ongoing career as a solo artist. 100% Paul Cotton also saw the singer take a hands-on role in the engineering of the tracks. This saw him embrace the latest in modern studio technology.
"I had a great time and it was a great experience," said Cotton. "I started learning how to engineer this stuff, with all the high tech gear they have out nowadays. You can do it much faster now."
Cotton, who has enjoyed a music career that spans more than 50 years, continues to perform and write new songs. The singer has recently enjoyed seeing a day named in his honor in Key West, Florida. He is also looking forward to POCO's upcoming induction into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame. Cotton says he continues to be inspired by fellow musicians like Tony Bennett, B.B. King and Willie Nelson and has no plans to retire.
"I'm definitely not giving up anytime soon," said Cotton. "Music is what I do best. It's a gift and I respect having it."
