MUMBAI: The 2014 American Music Award (AMA) winners were announced November 23 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angles and UMG earned an impressive number of wins. Among the twenty-two categories, UMG snagged fourteen awards. Katy Perry received three awards during the night including, Favorite Female Artist in both Pop/Rock and Adult Contemporary, along with Single of The Year for her hit “Dark Horse". Other highlights included Iggy Azalea taking home Best Album and Favorite Artist in the Hip-Hop/Rap genre and Frozen winning Top Soundtrack. The Dick Clark Award for Excellence was awarded for the first time to Taylor Swift.
The telecast was filled with exciting performances from many UMG artists. Taylor Swift opened the show with a perfromance of her new hit “Blank Space”. Nicki Minaj, Jessie J and Ariana Grande teamed up again to perform their single “Bang Bang”. Other artists who performed throughout the night included Lil Wayne, Mary J Blige, Iggy Azalea, Sam Smith, Jennifer Lopez, and Lorde.
