IIFA honours Rahman as 'composer of the decade'

MUMBAI: Internationally acclaimed and Oscar winning composer A R  Rahman was honoured with the composer of the decade award at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards held at Macau over the weekend. Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodhaa Akbar stood out at the IIFA awards winning awards across categories. Rahman's soulful compositions for Jodhaa Akbar... won him the best composer award, as well as the best background score award. As Rahman couldn't attend the event, director Ashutosh Gowariker received the award on his behalf.

Pookutty, who graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune 15 years ago, will sponsor a student of the institute. The funds will come from his foundation - The Resul Pookutty Foundation.
