MUMBAI: Singer-composer Shekhar Ravjiani, half of the ‘Vishal-Shekhar’ duo makes his acting debut as Neerja Bhanot's love interest in upcoming film 'Neerja' by Ram Madhvani.

The film will release on 19 February 2016.

The 40 year old Shekhar plays Jaideep, a young man with whom Sonam Kapoor’s character, Neerja falls in love with. The good looking singer has already made fans online with his soulful rendition of Gehra Ishq in the film, a slow, melodious song that is sure to have a long shelf life. Watch the song here

The song ‘Gehra Ishq’ is composed by Vishal Khurana and written by lyricist Prasoon Joshi.

‘Neerja’ the biopic movie is a portrayal on the life of the courageous Mumbai based Flight Attendant Neerja Bhanot. She sacrificed her life at the age of 23, while saving the lives of 359 passengers on the Pan Am flight 73 in the year of 1986. The flight was hijacked by a terrorist association. Neerja was posthumously honoured with the ‘Ashok Chakra’ for her immense bravery. She was the youngest recipient to reserve this honourable tribute.
