MUMBAI: The Jai Gangaajal album is out. And according to us, the songs are completely situational, and overall, the album not so flattering.

Written and directed by Prakash Jha, Jai Gangaajal stars Priyanka Chopra, Prakash Jha and Manav Kaul. Salim-Sulaiman’s music is hummable, but only just. The film is a sequel to Gangaajal which was released in 2003, had music composed by Wayne Sharpe and Sandesh Shandilya.

We have reviewed two songs (Maya Thagni Nach Nachave and Tetua) from Jai Gangaajal when they released. We now bring you our take on the entire album.

Joganiya by Udit Narayan

Music duo Salim-Sulaiman have brought a genuine Bhojpuri effect to this particular song. Udit Narayan has added extra authenticity with his wonderful voice and interpretation. One can feel the cheerfulness of the song and it is fun to hear until it lasts. However, according to us it does not meet the criteria for repetitive listening.

Dheere Dheere by Pravesh Mallick

Pravesh Mallick's captures the mike again for ‘Dheere Dheere’ which is apparently an entertaining track but honestly; it becomes tedious after a point. Even though the track has justified its charm in the movie, it is a bit monotonous to listen to this one as a separate track. You can actually avoid this one!

Ghanghor Ghana Ghan by Keerthi Sagathia

‘Ghanghor Ghana Ghan’ is slightly better with Keerthi Sagathia’s awesome vocals. Salim-Sulaiman's fine-tune also has a stimulating feel.

Najar Tori Raja by Richa Sharma

‘Najar Tori Raja’ is similar to ‘Joganiya’ but the main difference is that it has been sung by Richa Sharma. The song has a flirtatious and teasing feel to it. Richa Sharma has done a good job but in spite of that, this track does not have what it takes to be a smash hit number.

Dinu Baadar by Divya Kumar

Dinu Baadar is a simply situational song and the singer Divya Kumar has sung this song in a in a feisty manner. Salim-Sulaiman have given a rustic-heavy music arrangement which has a good background vibe.

Sanke Hai San San by Bappi Lahiri

This song is sung by none other than Bappi Lahiri, which is kind of an accomplishment for composers Salim-Sulaiman. This song is a peppy and entertaining number and Bappida does justice to the song with his lively singing style. The music arrangement is simple but foot-tapping and the credit goes to the veteran composer-singer for pulling it off well.

Maai by Sugandha Date

The second last track of this album ‘Maai’ is our favourite. Sung by Sugandha Date, this poignant and tasteful melody touches your heart. Give this one a listen, you will not be disappointed!

Sab Dhan Maati

‘Sab Dhan Maati’ is the ultimate track of this album and come in two versions. The first one is sung by Arijit Singh, which is the Radio Mix and the other version is sung by Amruta Fadnavis. The mood of the song is a bit gloomy but Arijit has done extremely well with his versatility. The same thing goes for Amruta Fadnavis who has exotic vocals that suit the track and therefore, the song turns out to be one of the better songs in this album.
