MUMBAI: Pandit Ravi Shankar helped make Indian music popular all over the western world with his sitar. But the western world’s fascination for Indian music and instruments is far from over. 2.  Peter van Gelder, California is a sitar exponent. Pupil of Sitar Maestro Ali Akbar Khan and junior instructor at the Ali Akbar College of Music in San Rafael, California.

3. Robert Dick, American flautist and composer, B.A. from Yale University and an M.M. in composition from the Yale University School of Music.

4. Shawn Mativetsky hails from Montreal, Canada. He is a performer, educator, and is currently teaching tabla and percussion at McGill University.

5. Teed Rockwell, from Berkley, California. He plays the touchstyle Veena, which is a guitar-like instrument.
