MUMBAI: Trend Music, a label launched last year by Chennai headquartered Vision Time India Pvt Ltd, Trend Music, has launched 'Trend Music Unplugged' - a property which promotes independent artistes cover versions of Ilaiyaraaja songs.
Trend Music was launched in April 2015 by S Ramamurthy chairman of Vision Time India. The label has acquired the rights to film and non-film content in the last one year and specialises in south Indian languages- Tamil, Telugu, Kannada as well as Hindi. The label is also keenly eyeing the Malayalam music space, we learn. Interestingly, Trend Music also manages more than 3000 Tamil songs from Ilaiyaraja's impressive catalogue. These are being currently exploited by the label by getting independent artistes to sing the cover versions for its newly launched YouTube channel Trend Music Unplugged.
With increasing competition, Trend Music too is generating most of its revenue from online streaming and caller tunes.
Currently, the company's music library has more than 50 movies and 25 plus albums. 'Chandiveeran', 'Dharmadurai', 'Semma Bodha', 'Aagatha' are some of the movies' music rights that Trend Music has recently acquired.
