MUMBAI: Singer Shibani Kashyap is someone who has been constantly trying to push the boundries and this time she walked the extra mile to perform for the Indian army in Jammu.
The 'Sajana Aa Bhi Jaa' singer performed for the soldiers and their families in a program that spread over seven days. The culmination day saw the singer sing for 1400 people that consist of army officals and their family members.
The singer performed at Rajouri which is just five minutes away from Pakistan border. Six years ago it was considered a high risk area.
Commenting on the same, Shibani said, "My experience with the Indian army at Rajouri (greater Jammu) was an incredible one. Well it’s really a very high sensitive area where the Indian soldiers are on duty 24X 7 as its the Indo - Pak border literally where we performed for them."
The 'Soneya' singer further explained that she related with the army officials lives because her father was an army officer. Hence, when she approached to perform for the army men she could not say a 'no'. The only thing that the singer refused to take was a fee for her performance. "I feel this is the least that I can do to thank the soldiers who guard us day and night; whilst we all lead such a comfortable life blissfully unaware of their trials and tribulations," said the songstress.
She further added, "For me it was like a re visitation of my childhood, as I was born and brought up in Kashmir. Thus, I was happy to pay a tribute to the region and the Indian army," stated she.
Anyone in Shibani's place would have thought twice before performing in a region that was at high risk not more than six years ago, but not her. "The patriotic fervour in me and the love and respect for the army which runs in my blood is what took me there,” averred the vocalist.
She further added, "We had a supremely successful show. Me and my team were treated with utmost respect and love and were taken care of so beautifully."
