MUMBAI: Singer Abél Makkonen Tesfaye, better known by his stage name The Weeknd, gets sound sleep after getting rid of his dreadlocks.

He says he could only sleep on one side of his face when he had a head full of dreadlocks, but since he has hacked off his long tresses and opted for a shorter hairdo, he can now get the best 40 winks he has ever had, reports people.com.

"I could only sleep on one side of my face. Now, the sleep is amazing. The shower is amazing because I don't have to spend two hours cleaning it. I didn't know how much I wanted it until I did it," added he.

The singer said the new makeover "was a long time coming. It didn't feel right anymore,"

"I told everybody I was getting rid of it, and everybody -- literally, unanimously -- they were like, 'No, don't do it! That's your whole thing, that's you.' And the way they said that I was like, 'Oh, I'm definitely cutting it now'," The Weeknd added.

The Weeknd recently won MTV EMA 2016 award for Best Video for his song ‘The Weeknd Ft. Daft Punk – Starboy’.
