MUMBAI: The non-film album 'Gulzar in Conversation with Tagore' features seven songs based on Hindi translations of poems by Rabindranath Tagore. The untiring 82-year-old poet and filmmaker has written the lyrics for compositions by Shantanu Moitra and Shreya Ghoshal, all sung by Shaan.

A poem narrated by Gulzar forms a start to each song, leading to a composition that is inspired by Rabindra Sangeet with an emphasis on lyrics. In 'Singaar Ko Rehne Do', the excellent use of a shehnai and a stringed instrument on Shreya Ghoshal’s vocals reflects the semi-classical influence.

Gulzar Saab’s voice sets the narrative to this song which talks about the fact that a woman looks best when she is herself, without any make-up, raw uninhibited beauty is a girls’ ornament. Though it is sung from a male perspective, it is one song that every girl can surely relate to.
