MUMBAI: Grammy Award-nominated rapper, singer, producer, and artist Jidenna has unleashed his anxiously awaited full-length debut album, The Chief (Wondaland Records/Epic Records).
Over the course of 14 tracks, Jidenna blurs the lines between genres, cultures, and creeds as he integrates styles into an immersive, intelligent, and inimitable tribalized hip-hop hybrid. Boasting fan favorites such as the simmering new single 'Bambi, which XXL dubbed, “the most interesting song you’ll hear in the next 12 months,” the raucous “Long Live The Chief,” and swaggering 'Little Bit More', the album illuminates the extent of his musical arsenal. Press remains under his spell as Stereogum exalted The Chief as 'Album of the Week' and The New York Times wrote, “From the beginning, Jidenna is defying categorization at every turn; his musical range is impressive and thoughtful.” The Chief also boasts guest features from Wondaland visionary Janelle Monáe, St. Beauty, and Nana Kwabena on the anthem 'Safari'.
Last week, this multi-talented maverick dropped the cinematic video for 'The Let Out' [feat. Quavo]. The track sees Jidenna carry honest and hypnotic bars over an airy soundscape from Nana Kwabena a longtime collaborator and the Ghanian producer behind his double-platinum 'Classic Man' (feat. Roman Gian Arthur).
