MUMBAI: Bollywood singing sensation, 21-year-old Armaan Malik is back to the news. No! Not because of his tussle with Sonakshi Sinha and her brothers! Armaan's most recent Bengali song ‘Ami Je Ke Tomar’ the title track of the movie with the same name was released on 22 April 2017.
Radioandmusic.com caught up with the singer who shared about his experience on singing the Bengali song for the second time.
Armaan got a call from the music director of the film, Indradeep Dasgupta who is a Kolkata-based music composer and notable for his music in movies like ‘Parbona Ami Chartey Tokey’, ‘Rajkahini’, ‘Jaani Dekha Hobe’, ‘Chaplin’, and ‘Charuulata’ among others. He also got Mirchi Music Awards Bangla in 2016 for best popular soundtrack for ‘Parbona Ami Chharte Toke’.
“It’s actually a recreated new song of mine, which was recently released. I had sung ‘Dhitang Dhitang’ for Jeet Da before, but that was a full dhamaal song. This is my first romantic Bengali song. Indradeep Dasgupta is someone I've wanted to work with for long. I like singing in different languages. Bengali is a sweet language and it was amazing. While I learnt the tune, he used to explain the gist and the lyrics of the song,” shared Armaan.
Composed by Indradeep Dasgupta and penned by Prasen, the song is programmed by Ranojoy Bhattacharya, mixed, and mastered by Amit Chatterjee and Subhadeep Mitra, the additional guitar is by Ankur Mukherjee.
We think Armaan did his best when it comes to Bengali pronunciation. Though he doesn’t know the language, he did a fine job throughout the song. He is definitely blessed with a soulful tone of voice and this song will keep your heart grow fonder even when there is darkness all around.
The original version of ‘Ami Je Ke Tomar’ was sung by none other than Kishore Kumar for film ‘Anurager Chowa’ 1986.
Stated to release in May 2017, ‘Ami Je Ke Tomar’ is a Bengali romance drama film directed by Rabi Kinagi and produced by Shrikant Mohta and Mahendra Soni under the banner of SVF Entertainment. The film features Ankush, Sayantika Banerjee and Nusrat Jahan in lead roles.
