MUMBAI: Having started his Bollywood journey with Amit Khanna's 2012 film Tutiya Dil, Divya Kumar has never looked back. It’s been five successful years for Kumar in the music industry, but he isn’t settling for this yet. He wants to explore more to understand the artist in him.

This need to explore beyond what he has achieved is pushing him a bit closer to the independent music scene. Thus, the singer is looking at taking a dive into folk and sufi music through his independent work. The Jee Karda singer is currently working on a music album that will in most probability releases in three to four months.

Giving us a preview of his yet to be released album the singer states, “The first song from my album is based on Rajasthan, as it happens to be my home town. I am also very close to folk music. The song will be a Marwadi song, easy to understand for a commoner and the millennial. The concept is a cute love story between a traveler and a guide."

Kumar is working with a team of young and fresh talents who will be starting their musical career with this album. “Their work surprises me all the time,” says the artist.

The audio of the song is ready; Kumar is now set to shoot the music video in the most exotic places of Rajasthan.

"We are 90’s kids who have seen cute love stories like Piya Basanti and Aur Ahista Kijiye Baate which ended in the same vicinity. That essence is lost as people become more practical these days and I want to get those days back," says the Shubhaarambh singer.

Moving to Bollywood, Kumar states that he has now got selective with B-town projects. “I do not bother if the film is hit or flop, for me if the song is good and suits me I will take it. I can say I am in the right space now," he emphasises.   

Furthermore, Kumar wishes to work with composers like Vishal-Shekhar and Salim-Sulaiman. He is also keen on creating new songs and working with the new artists. “I want to have collaboration with Jonita (Gandhi), Neeti (Mohan) and Ash King. We are singers from different genres and I want to experiment on songs with them,” ends Kumar.
