MUMBAI: Indian Idol 6 winner Vipul Mehta recently launched his debut album 'Hello Namaste Sat Sri Akal' on Universal Music. The album consists of seven tracks ranging from new compositions to cover versions of old Bollywood classics.

His version of the song ‘Pal’ from the album ‘Indian Idol Fabulous Four’ where all the finalists sang will be a part of the album along with six other songs. He has sung revamped versions of the classic songs ‘Har Kisi Ko Nahin Milta’ and ‘Dil Kya Kare’ as a tribute to the legends of yesteryear. These two songs have been produced by DJ Aks a producer in the Bollywood Club remix scene and who is known to produce for a host of Bollywood films. He has also sung three original tracks for the album titled ‘TerePyar Ton’, ‘KyaKaroon’ and ‘Rowan Mein’ portraying various beautiful emotions that deal with love. Of these the tracks TerePyar Ton’ and ‘Rowan Mein’ have been produced by acclaimed Pakistani producer Ali Mustafa. ‘Rowan Mein’– it’s a song felt after a heartbreak is the lead video from this album.

He was a finalist on STAR Voice of India in 2008 and has also sung the title track of the Kiran Bedi reality show Aap Ki Kachehri. He said, “Life has changed 360 degress post winning the title and I still feel like am auditioning for the show, it’s just not sunk in with so much happening around. I thank each and every person who’s voted for me to get me to this position in my life at this age.”

For the first time in six years, Indian Idol is working with Universal Music India as their official label partner this year.

Mehta will be in Delhi on 2-3 January 2013 promoting the album. After his trip to Punjab, he will come to Mumbai in mid- January.
