MUMBAI: Tulsi Kumar is back with a new single Ik Yaad Purani under T-Series, her family label. Featuring Kumar’s sister Khushali Kumar and Jashan Singh, the song is a soulful melody catering to both Hindi and Punjabi audiences.
“Jashan and I met one day and we were just jamming. He sang the hook of this single in Punjabi and I loved it. We decided to create a song around the hook. We then sat and got the song made on my tunes around the hook along with Punjabi feel to it,” says the singer of Ik Yaad Purani Tulsi Kumar.
Tulsi took the decision to feature Khushali along with Jashan in the video as their fans and well-wishers wanted the sisters to be seen together. “I love working with Khushali it feels like we have double the energy. We are planning to work on some more projects,” says Tulsi.
She has majorly been coming up with soulful melodies because she personally loves the ‘emotional romantic zone.' She is glad to have worked with singer Jashan Singh, composers Shaarib and Toshi and lyricist Kumaar.
Tulsi is very happy with the positive response from the audience. “I always work with a positive mind and do something that will connect me to my audience,” she exclaims.
The video was shot in different parts of Delhi and Noida over two days. The song recording also took around the same time courtesy Tulsi's perfectionist streak which forced them to resort to jamming and retakes until she felt it sounded right.
The Soch Na Sake singer does Bollywood projects but equally supports independent music space by releasing singles. “I think singles have been doing great. Also, radio which did not support singles earlier is now slowly emerging as an option. Gradually the scenario is changing. As more and more singles are coming in, people are liking it and this is all because of YouTube that has become a huge platform,” ends Tulsi.
