It's a struggle to make living out of ghazals: Kabul

MUMBAI:  Singer Kabul says it is difficult to make a living by just working on ghazals.

He has released a track titled Woahi Aable in collaboration with T-Series. It is a modern creative expression of a ghazal written by Urdu poet Fana Nizami Kanpur years ago. 

On ghazal artistes getting their due, Kabul told IANS: "Honestly, the current music scene is very different from previous times and there is no rule which can guide a track on its success." 

"Surely, our lyrics from past writers are rich and it is always a matter of pride for us to work on them musically. But in today's time, it is a struggle to make a living out of it," he added. 

Having worked with musicians like Shankar Mahadevan, Shafqat Amanat Ali, Wadali Brothers and Shubha Mudgal, Kabul is also known for his collaborations like Yaara with musician Ryan Beifus. He has lent his voice for the Unicef anthem Educate the girl child.
