MUMBAI: Global music giant, Sony Music today released the first episode of season 1 7UP Madras Gig with the song Veera Thamizhan, sung and composed by the uber-talented D.Imman.
The song highlights the Tamil pride and glory whilst further instilling the delight and honour we feel for the culture. With lyrics byYugabharathi, the song features talented singers such as prolific Carnatic vocalist Dr.Nityasree Mahadevan and popular rapper – ADK (Aaryan Dinesh Kanagarathinam). The video also presents elements of the Tamil culture - the karagattam, silambattam ( martial/ folk art of Tamil Nadu).
Adding on D.Imman says, “This song is a special dedication to my people of Tamil Nadu felicitating our own culture and language. It is high in emotions and energy, I always wanted to present music fans with a song that they will be proud of, hope Veera Thamizhan does that. In its first season, this unique initiative will showcase musicians and sounds from the South of India. Sony Music in collaboration with Knack Studios, aims to provide listeners with fresh new Tamil Pop music created by artists such as, Oorka, Sajith Sathya and Santhosh Dhayanidhi along with established artists like D.Imman, Leon James, Vivek-Mervin. ‘7UP Madras Gig’ will have artists explore and experiment with new themes and genres giving discerning listeners new and contemporary sounds by their favourite artists.
Each season will consist of six Audio Tracks, six live performance videos and many more ancillary music content episodes that will appeal to the audiences. The artists have been styled by Myntra with NAC Jewellers as jewellery partner.
