'Bappa Re' composer Ameya Naik is a multi tasker!

MUMBAI: Independent musician Ameya Naik who recently composed music for Bappa Re, sung by Shankar Mahadevan, is a multi-faceted artist.

Ameya, who always aspired to be a composer said, “After being a tabla player for 12 years, I thought of exploring more and discovered composing as a talent within me. Having taken inspiration from A.R. Rahman, I started experimenting and learnt on my own and avoided taking professional training for composing.”

On being asked about his first project, he told, “My first work was a jingle for Amul.”

On composing for Bappa Re, Naik said, “9XM contacted me for some item song but suddenly asked me for a track for Ganpati. I agreed to compose it. In addition to this, they also asked, who would be a suitable person to sing this song. I knew that no one could sing the song better than Shankar Mahadevan, who is my favourite singer. Hence, I composed the song keeping him in my mind.”

“The journey of working with him was fantastic as I couldn’t find a simple guy like him,” he added.

Ameya also conducts music workshops for corporate sector and NGO’s apart from producing music for commercial sector. He is also the owner of Dual Core Band.

On Dual Core Band, he answered, “It is a two piece band with a female guest artist and we perform Bollywood, mashups. The striking feature of band is that we perform a vast scope of music, which is English as well as Spanish, Latin, Arabic, Russian so that it works on corporate platform. It is specialised in the world of Bollywood. We are also coming up with a performance on 21 September 2018.”

Beside this the multi tasker is working on a Hindi film which will soon come into notice. AS well as he is working on his Dual Core Band shows.

Lastly when asked about how he manages everything, he concluded, “Time Management is a key role in my life and I follow it thoroughly, while giving time to things I love i.e. cooking, travelling and photography.”
