MUMBAI:  Upcoming singer-composer Navneeth Narasimhan has successfully completed his rigorous Film Scoring Major at Berklee College of Music. Born in Chennai, Navneeth moved to LA to pursue his career as a composer for Film and Media.

He has now ventured in the world of music with his ?rst album titled Flight. He has planned to release five tracks with an undisclosed Music Licensing house that has acquired placements in several movies including The Lego Movie 2 and First Man and Spiderman: Into The Spiderverse. To know more about Navneet Narasimhan, we at Radioandmusic spoke to him and know more about him.

On being asked, how did he realize his goal of becoming a composer, Navneeth says, “Growing up as a singer, I felt the need to learn accompanying instruments to express myself better. The guitar became my instrument of choice, but I enjoyed playing multiple others like violin, piano, bass, drums. I eventually realized that I enjoyed writing for small ensembles and felt the need to learn composing for an Orchestra. Combined with my advertising experience, Film/Media composing is where I found myself headed towards.”  

 “My adverting background and music education from both SAM and Berklee had a huge role to play in my technical and creative makeup. The Indian film industry also has a very diverse sound and I owe that in?uence some recognition. I’ve played in a few bands over the years and produced independent artists as well, which had me applying my skills in varied ways. As a composer/music producer, I derive ideas from both song and score based in?uences,” shares Navneeth Narasimhan about his diverse skill sets.

Spilling beans on his LA experience, the newbie singer-composer further says, “There are innumerable professionals in LA working on some of the biggest projects, through collaborations. I have got an immense amount of experience. LA seemed overwhelming when I ?rst got here. There are a lot of people with extremely similar skill sets. What helped me was my inclination towards both the creative and technical aspects of ?lm music. I worked with two ?lm composers over the last year ful?lling both creative and technical roles, whilst learning the ropes of the ?lm music business.”

Lastly, on his upcoming projects, Narasimhan concludes, “I am currently co?composing with Mark Petrie who has made a name for himself in the trailer music world for a short ?lm Things That Fall. I am thrilled to be a part of such a skilled team and cannot wait for the world to see this project, which has a very strong message. Alongside that, I am producing an album for arst Lazy Susan and a few other EP’s. I am excited to be a part of this industry and am looking forward to more varied collaborations.
