MUMBAI: The upcoming Bollywood movie, Kabir Singh has created quite a smoke since its trailer dropped online. While the other songs of the film are creating quite a buzz among the audience, fans haven’t got over Bekhayali yet. The song that kept music goers glued owing to its heart-gripping melody is penned by Irshad Kamil, who is happy with the response.
"Bekhayali is a combination of agony and aggression, a mixture of purity of love and pain,” he explains.

Speaking about his experience of working on the song, Irshad shares, “The director of the film, Sandeep Vanga had every frame fit in his mind. He just told me one word, ‘purity of love and pain’. If you listen to the lines - Nazar ke aage har ek manzar ret ki tarah bikhar raha hai...dard tumhaara badam mein mere zeher ki tarah utar raha hai. This agony and aggression, I tried matching with the character. When you are in love, you feel, both, angry and sad if anyone creates roadblocks between you and your lover.”
On working with music composer duo Sachet-Parampara, Kamil says, “I liked Sachet-Parampara’s composition a lot and felt that the ‘aast’ is present in their melody and people, especially youth will really love it. I tried to express that pain, agony, and aggression through my writing.”
It took about a week’s time for Kamil to pen Bekhayali.
Irshad Kamil also recited the song’s last line during the interaction, Aa jamaane ajmaale ruthata nai...faaslo se hausla ye tutata nai.
Kabir Singh releases on 21 June 2019.
