MUMBAI – Singer-songwriter and producer Shye has shared her newest single "Somehow", a track that features tender, tentative vocals and a driving drum and bass combination. The song is about being caught off guard by strong emotions towards someone and how these feelings of endearment and gratitude often develop in the most unexpected ways. Fans can stream "Somehow" here.
Shye explains, "'Somehow' is definitely different to earlier songs that I’ve written about love. It shows the intricate nature of love in its different forms, it’s not exclusive to romantic love and at this point in my life, I feel like I can better share my thoughts on it. Although it’s exciting to discover strong feelings towards someone, it can also be frustrating because of the fear that a “confession” can be taken a wrong way hence, “Sometimes I wish I didn’t know what happiness felt like with you”. But I feel it’s a precious stage to be cherished nevertheless, like with many other stages in our lives.”
"Somehow" follows her previous singles "Joke", "Flower", "Safe" and last year's EP 'idk it's complicated'. The EP saw Shye revisit her bedroom pop sound, touching on the complications of dealing with crushes and friendships, and finding the sweet spot where you feel you belong. Shye recently participated in Qing Nian Pai Ji Hua , a televised music competition in China, where she emerged as a finalist after four months of competition.
