MUMBAI: Australian music streaming service Guvera is ready with its Indian edition and its page has already gone live in the country. This service now joins the league of other established Indian music services like Gaana, Hungama, Saavn and the very recent Wynk by Airtel. Earlier this June, Radioandmusic.com had confirmed the service’s entry into the Indian market.
Although Guvera’s website has been launched, the services will be officially announced and activated on 6 November, during a press meet in Bandra, Mumbai. However, prior to the announcement, Guvera India and Middle East International Manager Ananya Amin will be present at the MixRadio Music Connects event on 4 and 5 November, which is organised by Music Matters and Radioandmusic.com.
The press launch will also be attended by Guvera CTO Damien King. Guvera will be the first of a few international music streaming services to enter the Indian market. It will be followed by the other competitors like Rdio, Spotify and Google Play Music All Access, which will arrive in the country in 2015.
Guvera India’s featured playlist presently consists of a variety of curated playlists including – Bollywood Top 20, International Releases, Unplugged Bollywood, Rock Rules, Alternative, EDM Hits and many more. Even without subscription, users can access a vast range of music at no costs, as Guvera depends on ad generated revenue. However, users can subscribe to their service which will provide uninterrupted streaming and no advertisements.
Co-founder of Guvera, Darren Heft, has reportedly said that the ad-supported service’s focus on emerging markets, particularly through Southeast Asia, was beginning to show real progress, with about 20,000 subscribers globally now signing up each day.
