Post producing the film 'Mardaani', Yashraj Films is releasing yet another movie, 'Kill Dil' starring Ali Zafar, Parineeti Chopra, Govinda and Ranveer Singh. Unlike its pervious release with only one track, 'Kill Dil' as an album, comprises eight songs and is composed by music composer trio Shankar Ehsaan Loy. A few songs start with the narration of the eminent lyricist and poet Gulzar.

Kill Dill:

The title track of 'Kill Dil' aims to build a drama with its fast paced beats. The song is a thriller with its retro tune. The composition of the song is average, but vocals by Shankar Mahadevan and Sonu Nigam are exceptional. Their high pitched vocals do not allow you to leave the song midway and grab your ear buds to the end.

Happy Budday:

The adage, 'anything in excess is not good' is apt for this song. Sung by Sukhwinder Singh and Shankar Mahadevan, there is just too much happening with the background vocals 'tinak dhin'. Also the beats of dhol and the electronic guitars do not have much of an impact. However, the lyrics of 'Happy Budday' are extremely quirky. One could term this as the most average song of the album.

Sajde:

The track 'Sajde' is a romantic Sufi rock track that starts with poetry by Gulzar. The soothing melody takes over the poem and then the track proceeds to become a rock number. The track also has a traditional touch. Vocals by Arjit Singh are captivating, while Marathi singer, Nihira Joshi, chips in with her refreshing voice that takes the song to a completely new level. The heavy guitar and tabla beats in the latter half of the song are perhaps the most engaging part of the song. This probably could be touted as the best song of the album.

Bol Beliya:

The song is high on energy and the composers have added a rustic touch to it. The bhangra beats in the give the track a folkish sound. Although it is not very impressive, the highlight of the song belongs to the high pitched vocals of Siddharth Mahadevan. The song is presumably picturised on the villain of the film, Govinda.

Sweeta:

The song 'Sweeeta' reminds you of 'Jeevan Ke Har Modh Par', a track from the Rishi Kapoor-Neetu Singh starrer 'Jhoota Kahin Ka'. Thankfully the song is short as it fails to deliver. In this track, even Adan Sami comes across as someone who repetitively sings similar melodies.

Daiyya Maiyya:

This song will tickle your funny bone as the lyrics are hilarious. The track has a traditional touch and is a fun song. However, the song could probably have been better had the composers not played along with the voice of Udit Narayan. Jaaved Jafri does a cameo in the track, chipping in with a rap verse in the middle of the song. Shankar Mahadevan and Rasika Chandrashekhar have also sung on the track.

Baawra

Once again the song starts with Gulzar's poetry and the heartbreaking number is sung by Shankar Mahadevan. Although it starts on a low note, the tempo picks up a little into the song. Mahadevan's vocals make the song captivating, but it is Nihira Joshi who once again steals the show in the song with her beautiful vocals.

Nakhriley:

The track 'Nakhriley' is a qawwali and is sung by Shankar Mahadevan, Ali Zafar and Mahalakshmi Iyer, who has featured on a full-fledged song after quite a while. Unfortunately, 'Nakhriley' is an average number at best; even the vocals of Mahadevan, Iyer and Zafar are unable to save a sinking ship.

Overall, barring a couple of songs, the album is not that impressive. Only time will tell how good the film will be. 'Kill Dil' is slated to hit the silver screen on the 14 November, 2014.
