MUMBAI: 'Prague' music director Atif Afzal has given more details on the soundtrack of the upcoming Marathi epic film 'Baji'. Last week, DAR Motion Pictures released the theatrical trailer of the Shreyas Talpade-starrer superhero epic, which showcased Afzal's orchestral score.

Speaking to Radioandmusic.com about the film's soundtrack Afzal said that there were a total of six tracks, though could provide details of only three of them. Throughout the trailer plays the main title track of the film titled 'Baji' featuring vocals by songstress Chinmay Shripada. The track features a "huge orchestrated score" that reflects the theme of the film.

The second song is a romantic duet between Shripada and Afzal called 'Shravan', depicting the story of 'Baji' and his love interest played by Amruta Khanvilkar. It also marks Afzal's debut Marathi track. Of the experience Afzal said, "It was a lot of fun recording the song. Everyone was laughing at the errors that I was making while I was struggling. But, we still had fun recording it."

In addition to the aforementioned tracks, the one that excites him most is an untitled item song. The reason Afzal said he is excited about the track, which was also challenging for him to record, was because while being an up-tempo, peppy item song, it suddenly turns into a "hugely orchestrated action packed, heroic piece" and then goes back to the sound of the item number and keeps going back and forth.

As previously reported, in reference to the orchestral setting, not only has Afzal made the sound of the film larger, but he has also fused classical Indian sounds, which are clearly evident from both trailers of the film. The music for 'Baji' has also been recorded in Dolby Atmos, making it the first Marathi film to use this updated technology for its music.

Speaking on recording in Dolby Atmos, Afzal earlier stated that unlike being restricted to just five speakers with Dolby 5.1, Atmos speakers are present all around, multiplying the dimension of the sound. "Along with having speakers all around, with Dolby Atmos, the speakers are on the roof which makes the sound brutal," he further added.

The film is based on the legend of a man, 'Baji', played by Shreyas Talpade, who takes up the cause of protecting the common man against "oppression and injustice". He is defined by his sword, his bow-arrow and his white stallion. Along with Khanvilkar, the film also stars Jitendra Joshi as the main antagonist. The film is scheduled to release in cinemas on 6 February, 2015.
