MUMBAI: From working in an MNC to singing jingles and scratches and finally getting a break in Bollywod, 'Haseena tu Kameena' singer Rahul Pandey has had his share of struggles in the music industry. Pandey, who hails from the 'City of Joy' Kolkata, had a keen interest in music since a very early age.
Recalling his journey he said, “Since a very early age, I was interested in learning music but I started learning only when I was in college. I learned classical music then. Then I thought about taking my music career ahead and shifted to Mumbai,” said Pandey.Being a trained western contemporary vocalist, he also learnt Hindustani classical.
The singer pursued his post graduation and started working at a multinational company and obviously did not have enough time for music. “I quit my job and then started working in the company associated to music. Also at the same time, I started singing a lot of jingles and this was when I met Sachin Jigar, who encouraged me. I would often go to the studio to record scratches and suddenly Sachin Sanghvi asked me to record the song 'Haseena tu Kameena' for the film 'Happy Ending'. Meeting Sachin Jigar was the turning point of my life, I decided to take up music as a career when I was about to finish college. But I shifted base to Mumbai to pursue my post graduation and then started working at an MNC” elaborated Pandey.
The singer will also soon release a music video with 20 children from an NGO on the eve of Christmas.
