MUMBAI: British folk rock band- Mumford and Sons have been announced as the headliners at the Main Stage for the upcoming Reading & Leeds 2015 music festival. It will mark the band’s first performance in the UK in more than two years, since announcing a hiatus. The four-piece band joins heavy metal act Metallica, who were previously announced as the festival’s first headliners.
Along with Mumford and Sons, recently announced performers include 'Pompeii' hitmakers- Bastille, rock duo- Royal Blood, Canadian DJ/ producer- Deadmau5 and Rebel Sound, which features Chase & Status, Shy FX, Rage and David Rodigan.
The festival will also have performances by up and coming acts, including Wolf Alice, Years & Years, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Jack Garratt, Pretty Vicious and Hanna Wants. They will join previously announced performers- Jamie T, Run the Jewels, Refused, Wilkinson Live, Pierce the Veil and Manchester Orchestra.
Speaking after the latest announcement, festival manager Melvin Benn said, “With today’s announcement of a further eight great acts joining the bill, the Reading and Leeds lineup is already shaping up to be one of the best ever and I’m looking forward to revealing the third headliner and even more great artists soon.”
Prior to their Reading and Leeds 2015 performance, Mumford and Sons will be seen performing at the Bonnaroo festival in June, in Manchester, Tennessee in the US. The band is also said to be working on its third studio album, which is speculated to be released sometime in 2015.
