The last time the Akhtar's i.e. Javed, Farhan and Zoya Akhtar, came together, we got to watch something as superb as ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ (ZNMD) n 2011. Four years down the line, the brother sister duo are back again with ‘Dil Dhadkne Do’(DDD), which features Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma and Farhan Akhtar. Directed by Zoya Akhtar, the film is one of the most anticipated this year. The music of ‘DDD’ is composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy and the title track, sung by Farhan Akhtar and Priyanka Chopra, crossed one million views on YouTube within a couple of days of its release.

Dil Dhadkne Do:

The track opens with heavy drum beats and claps in syncronisation, setting the mood for the album. The song has some elements of rock and roll while the lyrics remind you of ‘Zindigi Na Milegi Doobara’ by urging listeners to live without the fear of being judged. Chopra’s vocals are great, but Akhtar probably needs to tone down the screaming a little while singing. However, over all it is a good, peppy number.

Pehli Baar:

'Pehli Baar' reminds you of the track 'Sooraj Ki Bahoon Mein' from 'ZNMD'. With a tinge of rock elements, the track is peppy and vocals by Siddharth Mahadevan and Sukriti Kakkar gel well with the music. The youngsters add an element of spunk to the track, which gives listeners a rather happy feeling.

Gallan Goodiyan:

A typical Punjabi party number, ‘Gallan Goodiyan’ will get many on the dance floor. The song is sung by several singers including Manish Kumar Tipu, Farhan Akhtar, Shankar Mahadevan and Sukhwinder Singh. ‘Chaandaniya’ singer Yashita Yashpal does a great job on this track, while her mother, Geetanjali Yahspal, also contributes to the track.

Girls like to Swing:

Sung by Sunidhi Chauhan, the track ‘Girls like to Swing’ takes you back to the 50s and 60s, when swing was popular. Not just the instrumentation, but the vocals by the ‘Ruki Ruki ‘singer, take the track to a whole new level. Kudos to the team!

Pehli Bhi Yeh Zindagi:

The last song on the album, unlike the others, is a slow track. The song can get you thinking about life in general, and lyrics are kind of deep in meaning. The instrumentation in this track is particularly very different from the rest of SEL songs. Vishal Dadlani, Divya Kumar, Alyssa Mendonsa, Sapna Pathak, and Farhan Akhtar have sung this track, making it a good listen.

Over, DDD is a good album, and will certainly please a lot of Bollywood and SEL fans.
