MUMBAI: On 16 June, Oppo Electronics launched the upgraded version of the Neo 5 smartphone called Neo 5 (2015) in India, after introducing the smartphone globally last week. During the same week, the Chinese electronics manufacturer also introduced the Oppo Neo 5s, however, there are no details about the Neo 5s' India launch yet.
The Oppo Neo 5 (2015) runs on an operating system called Color OS 2.0.1i, which is based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat, and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor. The MediaTek processor is clubbed with Mali-400MP2 GPU. The device has dual-SIM and dual-standby features, along with a 4.5-inch (480x854 pixel) IPS display with a pixel density of 219ppi and Dragon Trail Glass protection. The smartphone supports one Micro-SIM card and another Nano-SIM.
The Oppo Neo 5 (2015) features an eight megapixel rear camera with a Sony IMX179 BSI sensor and an f/2.2 aperture. It also sports a two megapixel front facing camera. With this smartphone, Oppo offers easy screenshot capturing with three finger swipe, screen-off gestures, Beautify 3.0 image editing mode, double exposure for overlapping two images, Pure Image 2.0+ image creation engine, and a double layer metallic structure.
The smartphone features 8GB of built-in storage that is expandable via microSD card up to 32GB. On the connectivity front, the Oppo Neo 5 (2015) features 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPRS/ EDGE, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, and Bluetooth. The smartphone also features a 2000mAh non-removable battery.
The Oppo New 5 (Neo) is priced at Rs 9,990 and will be available to purchase from Monday, 22 June.
