MUMBAI: Hailing from the small district of Dewas in Madhya Pradesh, and coming to Mumbai to become a Bollywood singer, was not very east for Deepali Sathe. Music was something she was always inclined to, rendering her vocals for Sai Samiti bhajans and live shows at the age of three. To boost her talent, Sathe decided to shift to Mumbai, and participated in the singing reality show, ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ in 2008.

“Coming to Mumbai and trying my luck in Bollywood as a singer was something that my parents were a little skeptical about. After ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ I went back to Dewar, and it took a lot of convincing for my parents send me back to Mumbai as we did not have family in Mumbai or even in music,” said Sathe. After returning to Mumbai and going through a lot of struggles, the singer finally got her break with the song ‘Daingad’ from the film ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ which was composed by Sachin Jigar.

Not long after, she also recorded a Bengali song ‘Janemon’ for the film ‘Herogiri’. The music for the film was composed by Jeet Gannguli, who loved her voice and asked her to render her vocals for ‘Yeh Kaisi Jagah’ from the film, ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahani’. “I really love the way Jeetda works. He will explain the script and the situation so well, so it helps you sing well. He also knows how to boost your confidence and get the best out of you,” she elucidated.

According to Sathe, participating in the reality show helped her by not only giving her a platform to display her vocal skills, but also by giving her recognition amongst the big names in the music industry. Sathe also revealed that she is extremely happy with the responses her song has received and has also recorded a few tracks, which will release soon.
