MUMBAI: Indie musician KC Loy is currently working on new material – a collaborative attempt with fusion guitarist Ravi Iyer called ‘Pahadon Ke Chehra Se’, and an original track that he plans to release by the end of next month, confirmed Loy. He also hinted that Iyer may be featured on the track.
Loy and Iyer recently released a music video together called ‘Boondien’, in collaboration with Culture Machine. In the music video, Loy sings about the various consequences of water abuse. The inspiration to come up with a topic like this, Loy said, came from the original melody written by Iyer.
“Ravi and I were sitting and wondering what we could work on, when Ravi told me that he had a tune he was working with some words. He played it on his guitar and immediately I imagined a barren region; someplace befallen with draught; something worse than a desert. His melody and lyrics made me imagine the various instances where water is being used irresponsibly,” said Loy.
The video has been produced by Visual Diary Motion Pictures, in collaboration with Culture Machine, one of India’s leading digital multi-channel networks. When asked him about his association with Culture Machine, Loy said that Culture Machine’s talent lead Mehul Vadodaria, got in touch with him and asked him if he would be interested. Loy also said that within a year’s time, Culture Machine will be working on building KC Loy as a brand through his YouTube channel.
After singing jingles on TV commercials, Loy worked on Bollywood and regional projects. He won the Maharashtra State Music Award of 2006 for his songs in the Marathi film, ‘Pak Pak Pakaak’, and his track ‘Manzil’ was featured in the Hindi trailer of the Academy Award winning film ‘Life of Pi.’
